7. Data Security

We take reasonable precautions to protect your information using appropriate technical and organisational measures. However, no internet-based service is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute safety of your data.

8. Internal Access to Your Information

Within our organisation, access to your personal information is restricted to team members who need it in order to serve you. This includes fulfilling your orders, providing support, handling refunds, and communicating with you as needed.

Our employees and contractors are granted access on a strict “need-to-know” basis only, and are required to handle all data with confidentiality and care.

9. Legal Disclosure and Compliance

We may access, retain, or disclose your information — including the content of communications — if we believe it is necessary to:

  • Protect the rights, property, or safety of the Global Happiness Project, our customers, or others
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, or other harmful activity

10. Why We Retain Your Information

We retain certain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, even in some cases after you delete your account or cease using our services. This includes:

  • Allowing continued access to our website and products
  • Respecting your communication preferences
  • Processing refunds, if applicable
  • Understanding website traffic and user behaviour to improve your experience
  • Detecting and preventing fraud, misuse, or violations of our Terms of Service
  • Complying with legal, tax, or accounting obligations

When we no longer have a valid reason to keep your information, we will delete it or anonymise it so it can no longer be linked to you.

11. Advertiser Disclosures

We use advertising platforms like Google, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok to help us connect with and serve our community. These platforms may use cookies and tracking technologies to deliver personalized ads based on your past interactions with our websites.

For example, Google’s Advertiser Features such as Remarketing, Impression Reporting, and Demographics allow us to understand how users engage with our ads and site, and to follow up with visitors who do not complete a checkout form.

We also use Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok tracking to measure ad performance and refine our messaging. We ensure all service providers we work with treat your data confidentially and comply with applicable platform policies.

You can adjust your ad preferences or opt out of tracking via your account settings on each platform, or by visiting the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page.

12. Data Security and Data Privacy Regulation

We are dedicated to protecting the personal information you share with us. To help keep your data safe, we implement a combination of administrative, managerial, and technical security measures.

All team members are trained to understand and comply with these measures. While we strive to ensure security, no internet system is 100% secure. If a data breach occurs, we will make every effort to notify affected users within 72 hours.

We adhere to PCI DSS for payment data and comply with GDPR for individuals in the European Economic Area. To exercise your rights under GDPR, contact support@globalhappinessproject.com.

13. Data Controller and Data Protection Officer

If you reside in the EEA or Switzerland, your data is controlled by Nathan Crane / The Global Happiness Project. At this time, we do not have a dedicated EU Data Protection Officer. For questions related to your data, please contact support@globalhappinessproject.com.

We follow all applicable email laws. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. If you choose to unsubscribe, we will promptly remove your address. All messages clearly identify us and include our contact information.
